Busy program for councillors

COUNCILLORS will be asked to adopt the project schedule for developing council’s 2010/2014 delivery program and 2010/2011 operational plan at tomorrow’s Coffs Harbour City Council meeting.

The first meeting for 2010 will also see the beginning of a new system which replaces council’s previous yearly management plans with four-year delivery programs and a one-year operational plan as part of a longer-term integrated planning and reporting frame work.

The management plan outlined the main activities that council proposed to pursue for a three-year period, with a detailed focus on the coming year

The new framework is designed to reflect the terms served by councillors, who are elected for a four-year period.

The Local Government Act was amended in October 2009 to allow a three-year phase-in of the new system and Coffs Harbour City Council is an early adopter. It will implement the new system from July 2010 and councillor workshops will be held this month.
