Burglars on rampage along Coast

THIEVES have stolen thousands of dollars worth of valuables in a break-in spree on the Coffs Coast.

The robberies have prompted a warning from local police for residents to make sure their windows and doors are locked, especially before going to bed.

Intruders stole a laptop computer, a mobile phone, two iPods, two wallets, two handbags, sunglasses and cash from a unit in Collingwood Street in Coffs Harbour early yesterday.

Police are looking for a man described as Aboriginal in appearance, with a thin build, about 180cm tall and wearing a cap who broke into a Harbour Drive unit early yesterday.

He tore off a flyscreen and climbed through a bedroom window. He grabbed a handbag containing a mobile phone and cash and fled after shining a torch in the face of a woman who was sleeping.

Two youths were seen breaking into a house in Coffs Harbour’s O’Neill Street on Monday night. They tore off a flyscreen, climbed through a window and stole a PS3, an internet connector and an engagement ring about 9.30pm.

One of the males is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a thin build, wearing a white t-shirt and a black baseball cap.

The other is described as in his late teens, with a slim build and wearing a bright blue hooded jumper.

A young man was seen at a unit in Toormina’s Lalaguli Drive early yesterday.

He snatched a mobile phone from a kitchen counter and fled. He’s described as 175cm tall, aged 18 to 25, and wearing a grey hooded jumper.

Thieves made off with a laptop computer, cash and an x-box controller from a home in Toormina’s Playford Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Offenders snuck into a unit in Coffs Harbour’s Victoria Street overnight on Monday and stole a movie camera, a purse and keys.
