THE Jondaryan Woolshed’s 150th anniversary celebrations have gone global, reaching Clarence House in London where a little piece of Jondaryan is adding its unique sartorial touch to the wardrobe of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.

Woolshed manager John Osborne recently despatched the first of a limited edition of commemorative belt buckles as a gift to Prince Charles whose great-great-great-grandfather Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, visited Jondaryan Station in 1868.

The son of Queen Victoria, Prince Alfred was very impressed by Jondaryan Station and the hospitality of its manager William Graham. He was the first member of the Royal family to visit Australia.

Prince Alfred later described his visit to Jondaryan Station as the most enjoyable day of his Australian visit.

Toowoomba Regional Council mayor Peter Taylor said HRH Prince Charles had been invited to visit the Jondaryan Woolshed and the Darling Downs as part of the woolshed’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

“Prince Charles was unable to visit but has accepted the gift of an Australian leather belt with our commemorative buckle, and wished everyone at the Jondaryan Woolshed well with the anniversary celebrations,” he said.
