Cresswell lands to face charges
10th July 2009
Daryn Cresswell escapes the media scrum after landing at the Sunshine Coast Airport.
LOOKING only slightly out of the shape which made him so dangerous on the AFL field, former Sydney Swans player Daryn Cresswell arrived on the Coast yesterday.
Escorted by two plains clothes police officers, the casually dressed Cresswell remained stony-faced as he walked, head up and eyes forward, through the Sunshine Coast Airport to a waiting car.
The only sign of emotion the former Brisbane Lions assistant coach gave was after first noticing the waiting media.
Cresswell stepped off the Jetstar Flight just before 3.30pm, his handcuffs covered by a jumper, and appeared to say “oh f*ck” upon spotting the media scrum.
The 38-year-old was extradited from Sydney to the Coast to face fraud charges relating to allegations he used false home loan documents for a Coolum Beach property to obtain $300,000 for gambling debts.
Cresswell will face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
