All eyes on the Coast will be turned to Mooloolaba on December 31 for the annual New Year's Eve fireworks on the Esplanade.

Apart from the two sets of fireworks at 8pm and midnight, other highlights of the evening will include a special appearance by Humphrey B Bear.

Musical entertainment will abound, including performances from Sydney based song-writer and performer Paul Greene, local hip-hop artists Even Break and swamp rock duo Black Water Fever.

There will also be roving entertainment, fire twirling demonstrations on the beach and a ‘Buskers Place’ located next to the Loo with A View from 5pm until midnight

Being a family-friendly, event, be aware that it is to be alcohol, glass and drug free.

The other big event on the Coast on New Year's Eve is, of course, the penultimate night of the Woodford Folk Festival. Evening events will include: Sacred New Year with a dozen different world performers at the Folklorica space; The Big Bang featuring Jeff Lang and That 1 Guy, among others, at the Amphi space; and the Woodford International Performance Art Festival at the Workshop.

There are of course a hundred other things happening at the festival, culminating in three minutes' silence in the countdown to midnight.

As always, Noosa struts its stuff in a very different style. This year sees a Black and White Masquerade Party at Maddisons Restaurant and Bar. It's a book-ahead event with dinner and dancing, a four-course meal and a welcome drink for $89.

Other lower-key musical events include Leanne Douglas Duo at Yandina Bowlos, Big Time Duo and Romeos Apprentices at the Caloundra RSL and a Johnny O'Keefe Tribute Show at the Caboolture RSL.

And, last but not least, if you've always had a yearning to celebrate New Year's Eve in true Scottish style (or find out what all the fuss is about), here's your chance. There's a real old-fashioned Hogmanay Party at the Cooroy Memorial Hall from 8pm. And in keeping with the Scottish theme, tickets start at just $5!

As always, if you can't find what you're looking for here, you can always do your own search for events.

On behalf of everyone here at the Daily and Finda, have a very happy and safe New Year's Eve.
