Chris let cartoon do all the talking

Craig Mctear | 3rd December 2008

CHRIS Barr readily admits he was lost for words when his name was read out at the recent Coffs Harbour Rotary Cartoon Awards.

The 43-year-old took out the caricature section for his depiction of U2 front man, Bono.

“I was totally shocked. I was pretty much dumbfounded. I was up against stiff competition,” Chris said. “When I had to get up and make a speech, I was like a stunned mullet.”

Chris said he chose Bono as the subject of his caricature entry because the singer was 'a guy I admire'.

“He had a great face for a caricature, and that was why it was such a bold caricature, because he has such a bold personality,” he said.
