RIDING from the Gold Coast to Sydney is a feat for anyone - but what about someone who suffers from cystic fibrosis?
Griffith University student and cystic fibrosis sufferer Sommer Tuson is doing exactly that along with 20 of her classmates, all of whom made the halfway pit stop in Coffs Harbour on Thursday night.
Having suffered with cystic fibrosis for 27 years, Sommer is using the ride to raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis Australia.
“We've had a pretty good ride so far without any major problems, although we have got a bit wet,” Ms Tuson said.
“We've been starting really early and wearing garbage bags over our gear to keep a bit dry.”
Yesterday the troop had raised almost $20,000 and are hoping there's more to come with their fundraising efforts along their way.
“We're fundraising at each town, too, we have a raffle - and people can donate online.”
The team stopped in Kempsey last night and are heading for Taree tonight, then Bulahdelah, Newcastle and Gosford before riding into Sydney on December 3.
