Viv Friend.
YOU can never have a bad day working in the hospitality industry.
It is for this reason that Viv Friend is always equipped with a smile, a helpful nature and even a handful of Schmackos for pets dining out with their owners.
She has worked on Mooloolaba Esplanade for almost five years and in that time has built a rapport with customers who see her friendly nature as another reason to visit the popular tourist spot.
She hoped it was one of those customers who nominated her as one of the Friendly Faces for Mooloolaba Business and Tourism's latest award program.
During the search for the Face of Mooloolaba, the Service Awards Program hope to uncover the top customer service workers who make accommodation, dining, retail and business services enticing features of the region.
Ms Friend said “it was rather nice, but a bit of surprise” to be nominated for the awards.
The Mooloolaba resident has kept a solid client base since moving from long-term workplace, Sugar 'n Spice restaurant, to her recent position at Olivers cafe.
“I'm a people person so I'm fairly enthusiastic and I've got a great clientele who know me really well,” she said.
“It's the energy I get from all the wonderful people that makes it very easy to give back to the people giving to you.”
There are still a few days left to nominate a friendly face before the November 30 deadline.
Mooloolaba Business and Tourism marketing committee chair Natasha Read said the program was about identifying and rewarding the industry workers who helped make the region a popular spot for tourists and locals.
Head to www.mooloolabatourism.com.au to download a nomination form or telephone 5477 6366.
The awards will be announced on December 9 at Mooloolaba Business and Tourism's Networking Night.
