Webb colt ready for millions run | Horse Racing

BY HIS own admission, Toowoomba trainer Mark Webb's entry in tomorrow's two-year-old Magic Millions Plate (1000m) at Clifford Park is “a bit of a roughie”.

But optimistic Webb is more than happy to take a slice of the $100,000 prize money if his horse, Indiana, exceeds his expectations.

Webb said a disappointing run by Indiana at Eagle Farm two weeks ago had prompted him to view the Plate as a learning experience for the colt.

“He's a rough chance. Indiana had a run in town recently that was really below par,” Webb said.

“He has qualified for the race and he is fit and well but it's more of an education for him than anything.

“He should be fine over the distance. I think he's going to favour the mile as a distance but we'll see how things pan out for him.”

Indiana did not run in the Clifford Park barrier trials on Tuesday, however, a number of horses entered in tomorrow's Magic Millions race were put through their paces.

Col Williamson's Fleet 'n' Fast was first past the post in its 650m trial, beating Michael Flanigan-trained Handsome Playboy by two lengths and Rex Lipp's Fields of Plenty by 3.5.

Darryle Brusnahan's Ulmarra placed third by 5.3 lengths in a 900m trial.

Meanwhile, Webb said his star 3-year-old Black Minx had continued to improve, winning her barrier trial by 7.5 lengths on Tuesday.

“Black Minx was really impressive. She's definitely Queensland's leading 3-year-old filly,” Webb said.
