KATE Harman has leapt from Rockhampton to Townsville to the big time.
The former Rockhampton dancer starred in Dancenorth Company's production Underground in Brisbane recently.
And the teacher who taught her everything she knows sat proudly in the audience.
Lita Hegvold Dance Academy principal Lita Hegvold said it was a pleasure to watch Kate perform on stage.
As a young dancer in the beef capital she won a number of awards, including classical ballet and modern jazz championships, contemporary dance and received distinctions in her Royal Academy of Dancing classical ballet examinations.
After leaving Rockhampton she trained at the Queensland University of Technology, gaining an associate degree in dance.
Now a professional dancer, she's worked for The Queensland Ballet Company's Chrissie Parrot, Suzannah West Dance Company in Cornwell and Company 44 in London.
Kate joined Dancenorth Company in 2006 as a full time dancer and has since performed in their other productions of Nightcafe, This you made of me and Dis-integration.
