Amplified music is out under new guidelines | Decorating

COFFS Coast neighbourhoods will soon be even more peaceful, with new guidelines for noise released this week by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.

Director general Lisa Corbyn said the common concerns when it comes to noisy neighbourhoods are intruder alarms, barking dogs and vehicle noise.

“About 17 per cent of incident calls to the DECC Environment Line are about noise so it is important that residents understand their responsibilities when it comes to noise and how it can impact their neighbours,” Ms Corbyn said.

The DECC has released a set of new brochures detailing the new provisions relating to noise control, such as a change in the time after which amplified music can be played and the controlling of offensive noise from recreational boats, and limiting when noise from hot water heater pumps may be heard.
