TOOWOOMBA parents Melissa and Bernard Mahon describe their son Jaxson as their “little miracle”.

Jaxson became Toowoomba's 500th baby born through the Queensland Fertility Group's in vitro fertilisation program since its opening 10 years ago.

Mr and Mrs Mahon tried for five years to conceive before they sought help from the Queensland Fertility Group.

“We were told our chance of falling pregnant naturally was minimal,” Mrs Mahon said.

The couple was relieved the Toowoomba facility existed.

“We thought we would have to travel to the 'big smoke' to seek treatment and that would have added a whole lot of stress to our already difficult situation,” she said.

“We are so blessed. He is our little miracle,” the Mahons agreed.

The Queensland Fertility Group, formerly Toowoomba IVF, encourages couples over 30 who are having trouble conceiving to see a specialist.

Infertility can affect up to one in six couples.
