Coffs volunteers take the beach out to the bush | Fishing and Angling

NEXT Monday for the next two weeks, two Coffs Coast volunteer lifesavers will travel hundreds of kilometres throughout Northern NSW as part of Surf Life Saving Australia's national Telstra Beach To Bush surf safety program.

John Wake (Coffs Harbour SLSC) and Wayne Scott (Red Rock-Corindi SLSC) will join the Beach To Bush program, which covers all states and territories and will reach over 35,000 regional primary school children in over 300 country schools.

The NSW leg of the national tour will be conducted between November 3-7 and will cover over 94 primary schools and reach over 16,600 children.

The program involves experienced surf life savers travelling to regional schools teaching primary school children important surf safety messages.

These messages are particularly important as SLSA statistics show that beachgoers who live more than 50km from beaches are over represented in SLSA drowning statistics.

John and Wayne will attend schools in Wee Waa, Pilliga, Burren Junction, Moree, Garah and Pallamallawa in North-West NSW.
