Underbelly mum plans Noosa retirement
30th October 2008
JUDY Moran, the matriarch of an alleged Melbourne crime family at the centre of the television series Underbelly, plans to retire to the Sunshine Coast.
Mrs Moran told a television program last night that she wanted to move to Noosa in the new year.
Her home in Melbourne was up for sale for about $1 million, she said.
As soon as it was sold, she would move north.
"I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my days in Noosa," she said.
Mrs Moran's husband, Lewis, was shot dead in a Melbourne hotel bar in 2004.
Her two sons, Mark and Jason Moran, were also shot to death in what police alleged was an underworld war.
Their protagonist, Carl Williams, is serving a life sentence – with a minimum of 35 years – in Victoria for ordering three murders.
