ARTISTS on the Coffs Coast are invited to participate in a new environmental art exhibition organised by the Nambucca Valley Conservation Association (NVCA).

'Germination - Sustaining Earth's Evolutionary Diversity', will be held at the Bowraville Art Gallery from November 1-14.

“Germination is both a celebration of the wonders of the Earth's diversity and an insight into the potential of genetic engineering, to unravel the continuous chain of evolution.

“Genetic engineering decrypts natures coding, crossing species barriers and can bring forth organisms that nature never intended,” a spokesperson from the NVCA said.

“Artists are invited to interpret this idea broadly and explore it using any form of art including painting, collage, photography, installation, poetry, and short stories.”

Two prizes will be awarded including a winner's prize of $500 and a People's Choice Award of $200.

The exhibition is part of the NVCA's 'Sustainable Growing Systems for the Nambucca Shire' EnviroFund project which aims to raise awareness of the sustainability of organic agriculture.

For more information and to obtain an entry form, contact the Nambucca Valley Conservation Association at nvca@midcoast.com.au or phone 65695089.
