TOOWOOMBA'S Tressa Lindenberg continued her recent domination of long distance running events in the Garden City with victory in yesterday's inaugural Ridge to Ridge Half Marathon.

Lindenberg powered to victory in the women's section of the event, taming the mountainous course in a time of 1.30.5 hours, just five minutes behind men's winner Craig Hudson.

Veteran runner Lindenberg has made long distance running events in the Garden City her own in recent years, rarely being beaten in some of the region's most prestigious events, including the Queen of the Range event earlier this year.

Hudson was the overall winner, recording a time of 1.25.54 hours.

He beat home Ben McCronan and Hamish McDonald, who filled out second and third respectively.

More than 70 runners turned out for the inaugural Ridge to Ridge race, which replaced the Hilly Half Marathon that has been run in recent years.

Toowoomba Road Runners Club spokesperson Michael Burgis said the numbers were greater than any other running of the Hilly Half Marathon.

“Everyone was really happy with the new course and I think they found it suitably challenging,” Burgis said.

“We think it was a success to run the event out of Middle Ridge Park, because it allowed the half marathon to become a family event.

“We were impressed with the number of entrants and hopefully we can continue to grow the event from here.”
