TOOWOOMBA woman Roxanne Hurlock has held many titles throughout her life student, bank employee, wife and mother now she has added Open Women's Thong Throwing Champion to her list.

Mrs Hurlock, 36, and her young family moved back home to Toowoomba last week after spending the winter up north for her husband's job.

During their time away, they attended the World Cooee Competition at Cooee Bay, Yeppoon, on August 24.

Mrs Hurlock and her husband Steve thought it might be fun to enter the Thong Throwing Competition.

She won with an impressive throw of 23 metres.

“My main motivation was to beat my husband Steve. His throw was 20 metres,” Mrs Hurlock said.

“It's a good Aussie thing to do and everybody we tell laughs their heads off.

“I have a one-year-old and three-year-old so I think that mothers should always try something different to be interesting.

“I won a medal, a voucher to the ice-cream shop oh, and the title,” she laughed.

Mrs Hurlock said she copied her technique from the men, holding the thong upwards, taking a run up and keeping it low.

She credits her arm strength to “running after two little children”.
