LAST year, Courteney McLellan won the Toowoomba final in her quest to become Bartercard Miss Indy.

Tonight the search begins to find the next female model who will follow in Miss McLellan's footsteps.

Miss McLellan said the competition opened her eyes to the world of sports modelling and she gained valuable contacts and exposure.

“We were waking up early and staying up late practising routines. By the end of the eight days we were exhausted,” she said.

Miss McLellan's advice for the models competing in the first Toowoomba heat is to be prepared.

“Relax, look confident and have fun. The main thing is to look confident because if you don't it will show.”

Last year Kate Hockly won the national title but out of the 40 girls Miss McLellan was chosen to be one of 12 to feature in the calendar.

The title of 2008 Bartercard Miss Indy will be announced on Friday, October 24 as part of Gold Coast Indy 300.

The heat begins at 10 o'clock tonight at the Uni Club.
