Spider causes web of intrigue

Maree Butterworth 28th February 2008

THERESA Robinson got more than she bargained for when she reached for a bottle of Mount Franklin water.

Miss Robinson luckily noticed a spider the size of a 10-cent piece in the 600ml bottle before she broke the seal.

"I'm so glad I didn't open it and start drinking it. That would have been the worst part," she said.

Miss Robinson grabbed the bottle at her workplace, Zen Crema Cafe.

"After seeing the spider in the one bottle, we checked all the other bottles at the cafe so no-one needs to worry," she said.

Director of media and public affairs for Coca Cola Amatil, Sally Loane, said it was a very unusual occurrence.

"We make every effort to ensure our products are all of the highest quality," she said.

Ms Loane said yesterday the bottle was collected by a CCA representative and was sent to Brisbane for investigation.

"CCA will put the bottle and contents through our extensive and thorough investigation procedures," she said.

Miss Robinson said she was not turned off drinking Mount Franklin water.

"I was so thirsty. I just went for another one," she said.
