Northern Rivers "off leash" dog areas

You'd go stir-crazy if you didn't have the freedom to run amok in the country; so think about your best friend - the family pooch. Nowadays there's a heap of gorgeous parks and beaches that local councils have designated as 'leash free' areas. These are perfect for Fido or Fifi to feel the wind in their coat and the grass (or sand) beneath their paws. Just don't forget the baggies for any accidents along the way.

2. Main Beach, Belongil - Manfred Street to a point on the western side of the Main Beach carpark. This includes the Cavvanbah Reserve.

4. Brunswick Heads - start from adjacent to the Surf Club to the boundary of the Tyagarah Nature Reserve.
5. New Brighton - Strand Avenue to the northern break wall of the Brunswick River.
6. South Golden Beach - Gloria Street to the Billinudgel Nature Reserve.
7. Mullumbimby - Heritage Park, Mill Street from opposite Gordon Street to opposite Stuart Street. NOTE: dogs are not allowed in or within 10 metres of the children's play equipment.
8. Bangalow - Ashton Street bounded by Deacon Street and Byron Creek. NOTE: dogs are not allowed in or within 10 metres of the children's play equipment.
