Patterson to sign with Sheffield

SHEFFIELD Wednesday will sign former Toowoomba soccer player Caleb Patterson to a junior contract next week.

Joshua Patterson leaves today to join his brother and to witness the signing at the English club, which is expected to be finalised next week.

Caleb, 17, started his junior playing days with Gatton and moved to West Wanderers and then to the South Toowoomba Hawks.

He played in numerous South West Queensland and Queensland schoolboy sides and was a member of the Queensland Academy of Sport soccer program.

He left Australia more than five months ago and has spent time in the United States, and with Belgian side Anderlecht. A goalkeeper, Patterson will sign a youth contract linked to the club's academy.
