CELEBRATING its 133rd year, this year's 10 day Royal Brisbane Show: the Ekka is bigger than ever with more than 346 showbags,  thousands of animals, fresh food and wine, live entertainment, art and craft competitions, fireworks, rides, agriculture, educational displays and heaps of family fun.

The Ekka opens at the RNA Showgrounds on 5 August, 2010.

Entertainment

The Fashion Stage

This year's Ekka there will be a new stage dedicated to fashion, style and beauty. The fashion stage will provide an interactive program on innovative and leading beauty, fashion and products for all ages, lifestyles, budgets and body shapes.

The program will include:

  • A fashion and style workshop designed to entertain and educate by Australia's own Trinny and Susannah.
  • A style yourself famous by the hair experts from Price Attack.
  • A runway looks for less professional tips seminar by The Body Shop make-up artists.
  • A pole dancing routine performance by Australia's Got Talent semi-finalists, the Pure Pole Angels.
  • Zumba demonstrations from Vida Latina.

Ekka IgNITES

At night, the ENERGEX Community Area will come alive with the Ekka IgNITES program. Presented by b105, the Ekka IgNITES program will thrill audiences of all ages. The program commences Friday 6 August and runs until Saturday 15 August, 2010.

Queensland Government Pavilion

Introducing the Queensland Government Pavilion. This year the pavilion is themed Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland and will educate audiences on how to be strong, smart, green and healthy through programs and initiatives.

Programs and initiatives include:

  • Sustainable living.
  • Reading activities.
  • Displays.
  • Artists.
  • Information on key government services.
  • Acts and performers.

More information on the acts and performers in the theatrette will be coming soon.

The Auditorium Concert Series

A new concert venue and series is being introduced at this year's Ekka. The venue: The Auditorium and the concert series: Nights in the Auditorium at Ekka.

Performing at the Ekka as part of this series is:

  • The Ten Tenors on Sunday 8 July, 2010 at 6pm.
  • Opera Queensland - Young Artists on Wednesday 11 July, 2010 at 6pm.
  • Katie Noonan and the Captains on Friday 13 July, 2010 at 7pm.

There will be more that 346 showbags for sale at this year's Ekka. Finda has listed each of the showbags and their price below. Animals

Animal Boulevard

From the scaly to the feathery fluffy to slimy, for the 10 days the Ekka is in town the Boulevard will be home to a variety of animals.

Featuring a series of smaller, interlinking pavilions, the Boulevard allows visitors to get personal with hundreds of animals, participate in interactive displays and view demonstrations such as the sheep shearing demonstration.

RACQ Animal Nursery

At the RACQ Insurance Animal Nursery, visitors can get up close with many different cute and cuddly baby animals such as goats, lambs, calves, chickens, ducks and pigs.

A professional photographer will also be on hand in the Animal Nursery.

The Dairy Farmers Milking Barn

Each day in the Dairy Farmers Milking Barn there will be five live milking demonstrations.

This area features milking daily along with cream and butter-making demonstrations.

Food

Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion

The Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion encompasses delights such as freshly baked breads, cheeses, sushi, wines, olives, smoked salmon, mushroom burgers, juices, strawberry ice-cream, woodfired pizzas, fruit salad and more.

In this area there will also be a selection of food and drink vendors.

Royal Queensland Deli

Building on the success of its inaugural year in 2009, the Royal Queensland Deli is back again this year featuring Ekka Deli Bags - a little taste selection of Australia's finest wine and food - for $15.

New Alfresco Dining Precinct

The brand new alfresco dining area which will feature five new choices.

Fresh Fruit Stations

This year's Ekka has new food options for fresh food lovers with eight fruit and juice stands located around the grounds.

The 2010 event starts on Thursday 5 August and finishes on Sunday 15 August, 2010.

Gates open at 9am every day. Entry into the show isn't possible after 9pm.
