FROM woodchopping events to Sideshow Alley, showjumping and ute musters, the 2010 Maleny Agricultural Show will have something for everyone when it is held in Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May from 8am.

For 73 years, the annual Maleny Agricultural Show has been drawing crowds from far and wide with its variety of pavilion displays, events, competitions, stalls, animals, produce and music.

This year is no different. This year's show is jam packed with events such as the gumboot ironman and Battle of the Bands, competitions including woodchop, whip cracking and Miss Show Girl, displays of tapestry, photography and floral art, animal parades and much, much more.

Beef cattle

Competition classes include handler's and general classes and junior judge competition.

Friday 21 May

  • Handler's classes commences at 12pm.
  • Junior judges competition commences at approximately 2pm.
  • Grand parade at approximately 2.30pm.

Saturday 29 May

  • General classes commence at 9am.

Competition classes include camellia, roses and miscellaneous.

  • Best school and hobby exhibit commences at 9am.
  • Presentation ground milking awards.
  • Interbreed classes.
  • Young judges competition.

Farm produce

Competition classes include fruit and vegetable produce, eggs, honey and nuts.

Handicrafts

Competition classes include wool, leather work, pottery, ceramics, hand painted on china, porcelain and miscellaneous.

Horses

Competition classes include breed, performance, novelties, showjumping and local, district and novice hacks.

Friday 28 May morning

  • Showjumping commences at 8am.
  • Judging in breed ring commences at 8.30am sharp.
  • Ring one: inaugural show hunter feature including show hunter ponies, show hunter galloways and sho hunter hacks.
  • Ring two: paint horses, quarter horses, colourama horses and AQHA "B" class/HSAA performance class (open to all breeds).
  • Ring three: warmbloods, thoroughbreds, ansa and Australian stock horses.
  • Ring four: palominos, buckskin/dun, pure bred Arabians, Arabian derivatives, Arabian under saddle class, standard breeds and heavy horses.
  • Ring five: welsh mountain pony, shetland pony, Australian stud ponies, Australian saddle ponies, Australian riding ponies,

Friday 28 May afternoon

  • Ring two: pony hacks.
  • Ring three: galloway hacks and novelties.

Saturday 29 May

  • Showjumping commences at 8am.
  • Ring events commence at 8.30am sharp.
  • Ring one: galloways.
  • Ring two: pony hacks, junior rider classes and large pony hacks.
  • Ring three: harness.
  • Ring four: miniature ponies.

Natural fibres creations

Competition classes include senior school, adult outfit, creative outfit, calico capers adult outfit and kids self made active wear, costume party and showtime.

Poultry

Competition classes include soft feather breeds, hard feather standard, soft and hard feather bantams and breeding pair.

  • Birds can be delivered to the poultry shed from 6am.
  • Birds must be caged by 8am.
  • Judging commences at 9am.
  • Birds can be claimed at 4.30pm.
