Field day for Dorrigo landowners
15th March 2010
LANDOWNERS at Dorrigo and surrounding areas have a great opportunity to learn more about the legumes and herbs growing in their pastures on Friday March 19.
Legumes and herbs are valuable components of pastures.
They can add nitrogen to the soil, provide better balanced nutrition and provide high quality feed. However, others are weeds or poisonous.
The field day consists of looking at legumes and herbs in the field; what they are; how to recognise them; how to manage them; and what they might indicate about the soils, climate and current management.
The NSW Department of Business and Investment is also launching their newest publication Legumes and Herbs of the North Coast of NSW.
Participants on the day will be given one of these booklets absolutely free.
Participants are also encouraged to bring plant samples along for identification.
If you are interested in attending the field day or for further details contact Bellingen Landcare on 6655 0588 or Phil Parbery on 6657 1624.
Bookings are essential.
