Religious leader back in court
Staff Reporters 10th February 2010
ANTHONY Scott Williams, the leader of a religious group based at Upper Orara, reappeared in court yesterday facing serious sexual assault allegations.
The 65-year-old pastor of Senior Christian Assemblies International is yet to enter pleas on 14 counts of aggravated indecent assault and sexual intercourse without consent.
Police allege that Williams committed the acts against two former male members of the organisation between 2002 and 2005 in Coffs Harbour, Upper Orara and Byron Bay.
Since his arrest on June 5, last year, Williams has been granted conditional bail to reside at the headquarters of the church on Wayper Creek Road, Upper Orara.
Strict conditions have been imposed by the court that he does not contact former members of the organisation and that he reports regularly to Coffs Clarence Police.
A brief on the case will be served in the Coffs Harbour Local Court on March 9.
