Frustrated ex kicks in car door
Rae Wilson 10th February 2010
A WOMAN who kicked in the door of her former boyfriend's car was ordered to pay half of the $3600 repair bill when she faced court yesterday.
Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that Joyce Evelyn Peterson, 18, had repeatedly called and texted her former boyfriend before turning up at his house and knocking on his door.
Police prosecutor Rick Pallister said the man told police he ignored the calls, texts and knocks but ran outside when he heard his car being damaged.
He said the man saw Ms Peterson's new boyfriend kicking the car.
But during a hearing over the wilful damage, Ms Peterson incriminated herself while testifying and admitted she had also done damage to the car.
She pleaded guilty yesterday but her lawyer told the court her former boyfriend had asked her to go over and then pulled a knife on her inside his home.
Lawyer Clare Sultmann said her client kicked him in the shin, ran off and kicked his car out of frustration.
She said her client brought her new boyfriend along in case something went wrong.
Ms Peterson was also fined $150.
