Wet weather activities on the Sunshine Coast
8th February 2010
WHEN the warm bright sun shines over our beautiful beaches and glistening sand, the Sunshine Coast is a paradise with no shortage of activities.
But where do you turn when the clouds open up and dump days of rain over the Coast?
If there's one thing parents struggle with during rainy weather, it's what to do with their children when beaches are bleak and it's miserable outside.
Here at finda.com.au, we've created your one-stop guide for what to do with kids when it's raining outside.
Our top five wet weather survival suggestions are:
Strap on your rollerblades and head to Caloundra for indoor skating fun.
The Caloundra Rollerdrome returns to being a skating rink on February 20 after spending the Christmas holidays as an ice skating rink.
Stay tuned in 2010 when a brand new sound system will be installed, making the Rollerdrome the envy of every other rink.
You can start skating for $12 and only pay an extra $5 if you need to hire roller or in-line skates.
Roll along to Suncity Tenpin on Mari Street at Alexandra Headland.
The bowling alley is the perfect way to burn through a wet day.
Kids 12 and under can play one round for $10 or two rounds for $16 and students play for $11 for their first game or $18 for two.
If you really want to exhaust your kids, climb into the car and head to Top Shots! Fun Park at Maroochydore for indoor rock climbing.
You can compete with your mates in a race to the top to hit the buzzer on the artificial wall.
The latest hi-tech safety gear mean kids don't have to be worried about falling as they scale the three different paths to the top.
If rock climbing isn't your thing, try your skills at Top Shots! Fun Park's games arcade.
With classics like skill testers and motocross racing games, there's plenty of fun for kids of all ages to last them a rainy day.
Take on Mission Impossible by weaving and dodging through multicoloured laser beams at Laserzone in Warana on the Sunshine Coast.
As well as its popular laser skirmish, Laserzone has introduced new laser missions.
Up to four competitors can face off, working together or against each other in the Laser Web.
Laserzone is open seven days and perfect for anyone wanting a refuge from the rainy weather and plenty of action all day long.
Escape the rain by going underwater - literally.
Check out UnderWater World's new giant octopus or the new $50,000 display for children.
Or simply walk among thousands of marine and freshwater animals like giant sharks, stingrays, sawfish and tropical reef fish at Underwater World at Mooloolaba.
If you're looking for a simple rescue from the wet outside, head along to one of the cinemas on the Sunshine Coast.
You can view blockbuster movie reviews as well as the latest session times for all of the Coast's cinemas.
