JAMIE Charman’s job description requires him to smash and batter his body for the better of his team.

So when the opportunity came about for the two-metre tall ruckman to pick on some kids half his size, he jumped at the chance.

Charman and his Brisbane Lions teammates gave it their best against Alexandra Headland nippers yesterday morning while the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman series competitors scoped out the surf before this weekend’s rounds.

It was a clash of the titans as Lions skipper Jonathan Brown swapped stories with ironman legend Shannon Eckstein as breakfast TV show Sunrise did live crosses from the sand.

Even former Carlton bad boy Brendan Fevola mixed with the crowd and signed hats for budding lifesavers.

“We have these community camps every year so to be able to come back to the Coast is great for me,” Brisbane Lion and Sunshine Coast product Josh Drummond said.

“But I know all the other boys love it as well, we’re staying right on the beach and it’s a great spot to come up.”

The Lions wound up their two-day community camp with a coaching clinic at Fisherman’s Road last night while the country’s fittest surf lifesavers will contest rounds three and four of the series today and tomorrow.
