CLOSE your eyes and imagine a tradie.

Chances are he’s tall and tanned with tight muscles.

Gone are the cliched images of a sweaty overweight man eating a greasy meat pie with sauce on his tea break.

Sunshine Coast tradie Kyle Small is helping his fellow workmates out by keeping the old stereotype locked away. The 23-year-old from Buddina is a contestant in the RSVP Search for Queensland’s Hottest Tradie competition.

“I’ve been working hard to save up money so I can chase my dream of becoming an actor or a model,” Mr Small said.

“I thought this competition would be fun and help.”

When asked, Mr Small said his best asset would be his personality.

“Though my girlfriend would say it’s my small butt,” he said. “Surfing keeps me in shape.”

Three other Coast tradies have entered the competition.

Matt Boost is one of them.

The 39-year-old concreter loves his work and enjoys making people happy when they are left with a good job, what they wanted and what they paid for.
