Teens wow Summer Tunes crowd

YOUNG musicians Mikayla Stevens and Alana Day were two performers who wowed audiences across the Garden City yesterday.
The Pittsworth girls, aged 16 and 17, were more than happy to warm the stage at the start of Toowoomba Regional Council’s popular Summer Tunes series.
The free program kicked off yesterday in four of the city’s premier public parks.
Over the next eight weeks, concerts will be staged at Picnic Point, Laurel Bank Park, Newtown Park State Rose Garden and near the children’s play area in Queens Park.
The Queens Park program, titled Children’s Capers, will be held from 10am to noon on each Sunday.
Tourism, Recreation and Special Events portfolio spokesman Joe Ramia said the program was an ideal holiday soundtrack for lazy summer days.
Copies of the Summer Tunes program are available from the Visitor Information Centre or log on to www.toowoombaRC.qld.gov.au
The concerts will run until February 28.
