Britney upset over Aussie row
9th November 2009
US pop icon Britney Spears is "extremely upset" by media reports that disgruntled fans walked out of her first ever Australian concert because she was lip-synching, her promoter Paul Dainty says.
Dainty said the reports that concert-goers stormed out of Friday's show in Perth because it was lacklustre and not performed live were "the biggest lie I've ever heard."
"I'm so angry," he told Monday's The Australian newspaper.
"We can take heat if there's something wrong and people can review shows badly - that's something you have to live with - but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication."
Dainty said Spears, on her first major tour in five years after a myriad of personal problems, had been rattled by reports that some people left after just three songs.
"Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it," Dainty said.
"She's a human being. I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting."
Management at Perth's Burswood Dome, where the first concert was held, said they had received no complaints from the 17,000 people who attended the show during which Spears mimes to some of the songs.
"From Burswood's perspective, the event was a huge success," a spokesman said.
But one fan told the Nine Network: "People are paying for it and have come here, so she should sing."
Spears, 27, is performing 15 concerts in Australia, in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane as part of the Circus tour which kicked off in New Orleans in March.
The extravaganza had earlier hit trouble as Australian fans voiced unhappiness it was not all sung live, with New South Wales state officials suggesting tickets should carry disclaimers.
Should Britney be upset? Should she be allowed to lip-sync to some of her songs? Would you walk out of a concert if there was lip-synching? Tell us what you think. Leave your comments below...

I might not look quite as good in fish net stockings, but I can lip-sync just as good as britney and at a tenth of the cost
Just another speedbump in the history of Ms Spears. I can't understand why you would pay for lip synching anyway, especially at those prices. For Gods sake, go buy a Milli-Vanilli record instead.
Oops, she did it again...
if she's upset, i hope it means she won't come back- we can only hope !!!
The obvious question, which Dainty fails to answer and neatly sidesteps, is, "Why?". Why is she lip-synching?
And was it was it clearly stated before-hand, online or on tickets, that she would be miming some songs (obviously not) or were people duped (looks like it)?
I have seen Britney's Circus Concert in Las Vegas earlier this year, and will be going to the Brisbane concert in a few weeks.
It is a show!
Anyone would be upset, getting negative feedback.
She can lip-sync all of her songs, if that is what she has chosen... Do whatever sounds best for the audience.
Im buying a home next door to her home at the moment, so I wonder if I will hear her signing in the shower... or will it just be her lips moving..
We're going to one of the Brisbane concerts. Doesn't bother me if she lip-syncs a few songs. As I understand it, she's still singing in to the mike but the recorded singing just is louder.
Meehhh....as Super says, it's a whole show not just a singing concert. I think it'll be great.
who cares
And the music industry blames internet piracy on the decline of their billion dollar business, would it have something to do with that all this studio and computer enhanced garbage that they spew out onto the airwaves and when their famous "STAR" has to do a live performance, they cant do it without autotune or lipsync assistance?
Bring back the old pub bands that did the hard work first, instead of being disappointing because their newly released single wasn't No1 on the charts!
