THE weather behaved beautifully, the crowds came out and the musicians played on and on.

The Noosa Jazz Festival 2009 was an outstanding success from the opening welcome night at the Bicentennial Hall on Thursday night, through the inaugural Tastings on Hastings lunch on Friday and throughout the weekend to the traditional Sunday family day of jazz at Noosa Woods.

“We raised the bar this year and it worked,” organiser Linda Jedynak said.

“We had high expectations and it was a chance to step it up to the next level.”

Every choice of music genre was available all across town, from blues to swing to traditional.

“At one stage we had every genre playing at the same time along Hastings Street, so if you didn’t like blues you just moved down the street for something else,” Linda said.

All the regular festival entertainers were there including Bob Barnard, Janet Seidel, George Washingmachine, Jan Preston and The Syncopators.

“The challenge ahead is to get more quality artists in for next year – we have already planted the seeds for 2010,” Linda said.
