Student in critical condition

A STUDENT from Mullumbimby High School was rushed to hospital yesterday morning after an unspecified incident at the school.

The student, believed to be a boy, remained in a critical condition late last night, police media in Sydney confirmed as the paper went to press last night.

The student suffered serious head injuries.

Police said the student was in Year 9.

Ambulance paramedics were called to the school immediately following the incident and the student was transported to hospital, believed to be The Tweed Hospital.

Police last night could not confirm was type of incident had occurred, but said it happened before lunch at about 11.15am.

Officers from the Tweed/Byron Area Command were called to attend the scene and remained at the Mullum school continuing investigations late into last night.

Forensic police were also called in to assist in the investigation.
