Accused murderer denied bail

A MAN accused of being involved in a bashing murder at a Brisbane party has been denied bail.
Father-of-two Ryan Best, 30, died at Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital in May after being bashed when a fight broke out at a 21st birthday party at Chambers Flat, south of Brisbane.
One of the accused, Kane Bernard Hemmings, 22, was denied bail on a charge of murder in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday.
Justice James Douglas rejected the application, citing a strong case against Hemmings and a fear he may interfere with witnesses.
Prosecutor Kathryn Dent told the court the crown's case revolved around Mr Best being punched, falling over and being kicked at a bar before going outside to a tarp area.
She said Mr Best was then punched again outside, before falling down again and being repeatedly kicked in the head.
Hemmings' defence lawyer says his client admitted throwing a punch earlier in the evening but denied being involved in the kicking and punching later on.
