Jim Campbell 4th July 2009
The masked robber threatens the female shop attendant with a 30-cm kitchen knife.
PACIFIC Fuels attendant Antineo Yonggee was shocked to hear yesterday that his friend and colleague had been robbed at knife-point on Thursday night.
Mr Yonggee said he only learned of the robbery when he read The Chronicle at work yesterday morning.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God’ — I was really shocked,” he said.
Police are still searching for the masked man who robbed a female attendant at the Mackenzie Street service station just before 7pm.
Detective Senior Constable Scott Stahlhut said another person might have been waiting in a getaway car at a different location.
Det Snr Const Stahlhut said it appeared the man ran west along Perth Street and into Kitchener Street towards James Street.
“It seems like an opportunistic crime,” he said.
“I would describe this as a desperate act.”
The offender was described as a young Caucasian, wearing dark clothing and tan riding boots.
