Kleenmaid takes another victim
15th April 2009
FRANCHISEE Stuart Dunlop had a panic attack when told Kleenmaid had collapsed.
The Toowoomba store owner stands to lose everything after selling his family home to buy into the business last year.
Just nine months later, he joins the long line of creditors stung by the Maroochydore-based operation.
“We only received an email at 5.25pm on Thursday, one and a half hours after the 4pm announcement,” he said.
It was a sickening shock.
“I had to seek immediate medical advice,” he said.
“These buggers have cleaned me out.”
In the midst of a busy March and April, he said there was no hint the company could close.
“There is now a 31-day period where the administrators decide whether Kleenmaid is salvageable.
“Until then, we're in a holding pattern.”
