Grey skies couldn't dampen the vibe at Easterfest 2009.

THEY say ask and you shall receive, and for the tens of thousands of people who made it to Easterfest 2009 on Saturday, they couldn’t have asked for much more.

Well, perhaps maybe a bit of sunshine, but not even a rainy old day in Toowoomba could contain the amazing vibe buzzing around Queens Park.

The day kick started with the SHE event heading up by the charming Rebecca St James, with a few special guests dropping by help her spread her inspiring message, including the delightful Evie Tornquist as well as Rebecca’s two brothers, who just happen to be in another of the Easterfest headliners, Austoville.

Meanwhile just next door, the guys from the RedFrogs Colosseum showed no sign of even noticing the rain, keeping up spirits throughout the day with a range of fun, outrageous and utterly ridiculous games and activities including jousting competitions, line dancing lessons and fashion parades.

As the mud on the shoes began to get thicker, the music was only getting better, with the undisputed masters of vocal control, Naturally 7, attracting a solid crowd with an impromptu performance during a radio interview under a tiny tent.

The guys returned later on in the night to the Telstra Mainstage to another packed crowd, and by the time the Paul Colman Trio hit the stage, everyone was in the mood for dancing.

Pc3’s return to the stage after a five year hiatus was nothing short of spectacular, with the guys looking and sounding like they hadn’t missed a beat in all that time. So much so in fact, that it was hard to tell who was enjoying the show more, the crowd or the band.

Maybe Chris Pouslen was in the crowd during Paul Colman’s show, maybe he wasn’t. But something inspired he and his trio to put on one of the most vibrant, energetic, off-the-wall shows of the festival.

These guys went MENTAL. It seemed the only thing that could match their enthusiasm on stage was their virtuosity. The icing on the cake was when two special guests from Compliments of Gus and newworldson dropped by to help out in the madness.

During this whole time, the RedFrogs Colosseum was still pumping through the night with a mini rave party springing up in the middle of the motocross ramps.

So, in summary, Easterfest 2009 has been awesome, even with the mud and the rain. Maybe that even made it better.
