GHOST trackers believe they have uncovered evidence of paranormal activity at one of the oldest properties in south-east Queensland.

Armed with electro-magnetic field recorders, voice recorders, ouija boards and video cameras, the Queensland Paranormal Investigators (QPI) conducted a tour of Wolston House farm house on Saturday night.

QPI director Amanda Richardson said there was something within the walls that could not be explained logically.

“We ended up with a few photos of these orbs, which are like a ball of light,” Ms Richardson said.

Investigators also noticed a cupboard door opening for no apparent reason - a spooky detail that was also noticed when QPI visited Wolston House in October last year.

That tour also produced video footage of a kitchen lamp swinging violently - and Ms Richardson insisted there were no draughts inside the house that night.

Built of brick and timber in 1852 and extended with sandstone in the early 1860s, Wolston House's 156-year history is not short on hardship and death.

John Ommaney took his last breath there following a skull-shattering horse riding accident in 1856 and Jem Grindle, the daughter of then Wolston owner Jim Grindle, also died after a fall from a horse in the 1940s.

The National Trust of Queensland, which now owns and maintains the building, insisted on hosting the ghost tours because of several bizarre incidents that were reported.

But for every believer there's a sceptic, and long-time Wolston volunteer Carolyn Whetter said the ghost stories hadn't convinced her just yet.

“I acknowledge that things have happened there that cannot be explained - but I think that may be just because we haven't found an explanation yet,” she said.

Wolston House will host another group of paranormal investigators this Saturday.

The house will also be part of Heritage Week Celebrations on May 17 from 11am.

Ghosts? Next we'll be believing that the light from stars that probably no longer exist can be used to predict the future. Me, I can't understand why people *want* there to be things that cannot be explained.

Hi, My name is Kellie i am the director of Southeast Paranormal in Ipswich, We have been running for over eleven years now and have been studying in this field for many years Paranormal and Parapsychology and also a fifth generation psychic.
Our group do not assume every photo has orbs nor do we go around calling every place haunted. We take our views on a scientific bases as well as paranormal. We did conduct an investigation on the 4th april involving the caretaker of the building. We held 2 ouja boards on the night including camera equiptment, evps infrared cameras dowsing rods pendulums and several psychics on the night. We have confirmationon the night of children present, ages, names and voices on evp's. Confirmed by family tree details at end of the night. Our aim is to raise funds for historical sites and help with preservation and restoration to let our future generations and family historians be able to visit such histrical icons.
The national trust and friends of southbrisbane cemetery and many other societies are volunteers who dedicate their own time to these places. I believe if we use these premises we should be putting back.
We also do public tours and private homes from all over queensland. Many local residents have asked for our help but do not wish for the public to know. All calls are confidential and treated with the utmost professionalism and empathy.
