AUSTRALIA Day means so many things to so many different people who call this great land of ours home.
Traditionally January 26, Australia Day, conjures up images of faded blue singlets, British racing green stubbies, sweltering hot days, icy cold beers, snags on the barbie and, of course, the beach.
So wave that Aussie flag patriotically, slap-on that pink zinc and get ready for an unforgettable Australia Day 2009 as Finda takes you on a tour around our great nation.

There are 2 festivals in Coffs Harbour on Australia day.. one organized for Park Beach a family fun day.. sounds like fun.. and the other at the botanic gardens organized by the koori community.. why do we need 2 different festivals at 2 locations competing for the time and attention of Coffs Harbour residents. Would have been great if the organizers of these 2 Australia day events could have had the forethought and wisdom? to combine their celebrations at the ONE venue in the spirit of true reconciliation on Australia Day..
I feel that having 2 festivals at 2 different places is only continuing the us and them mentality.. white against black or black against white.. both fighting for their own place of importance in the Coffs Harbour community. Coffs Harbour residents should not have to decide between these two festivals they could enjoy the best of both worlds if the organizers had the courage to plan and provide a combined koori/white family fun day for all peoples of Coffs Harbour... perhaps this could happen in 2011 seeing as it may be well too late for this year. I would have liked to go to both festivals but due to lack of transport in Coffs Harbour on Australia Day and the different locations of each festival/celebration. we will have to choose one or the other...this should not be... after all we are ALL AUSTRALIANS.
