EUDLO cheesemaker Christian Nobel's encounter with a snake in his bed which bit him in the face is the kind of stuff of which horror movies are made.

Even Mr Nobel initially thought he was simply having nightmares when he felt “something” bite him on the forehead around 1am on Christmas morning.

It was only when wife, Yvonne gently switched on the nightlight to avoid waking their sleeping five-month-old daughter Kaya they discovered it was no dream. Curled up next to Mr Nobel's head was a one-and-a-half metre long “black snake”.

“We jumped up and grabbed the baby and ran out of the room,” he said.

The Nobels feared the worst and immediately called the ambulance and snake-catcher Shane Nolan.

The “fantastic” paramedics arrived in five minutes and rushed Mr Nobel to Nambour Hospital and five minutes into the journey they received the most welcome news.

“Shane called to say it was just a carpet snake,” Mr Nobel said.

Mr Nobel has named a cheese after his experience.

“The best description for the cheese is that it is a strong, sharp bitey cheese,” Mr Nobel said.

“We decided to call it Snake Bite.”

Late yesterday another 37-year-old woman was admitted to Nambour Hospital with a suspected snake bite and was in a “stable condition”.
