Wee hours pee proves costly mistake
Peter Hardwick 6th January 2009
THE next time Daisy Hills man Jordan Paul Boysen Banks comes to Toowoomba for a night out on the town it might pay to first orient himself as to the location of public toilets in the Garden City.
Banks, 23, was caught urinating on Toowoomba streets twice in the wee hours of November 14, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard yesterday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Morrie Turner told the court Banks had been given a “notice to appear in court” by police who caught him urinating in Club Lane in Toowoomba's CBD about 1.45am on the day in question.
However, police could have been excused for thinking Banks was taking the . . . um . . . micky when, at 3.25am, he was found urinating into a bush on Margaret Street and was again nabbed by police.
Banks admitted he had been given a notice for public urination just a couple of hours before, Sgt Turner said.
Banks was not present in court yesterday when his matters were mentioned, however, he had posted a written plea of guilty to both public nuisance charges.
Magistrate Kay Ryan has made no secret of the fact that public urination is one of her pet hates and an offence she views very seriously.
Without recording a conviction, Ms Ryan fined Banks $300 for each offence, giving him two months to pay the total $600.
