FLY into the danger zone today with Warbirds Over Lismore. Feel the thrill of the skies in a legendary military aircraft or watch Australia's aerobatic champions twist and turn in a gripping air display.

The first-ever Warbirds Over Lismore Airshow has been dedicated to Australia's last surviving Victoria Cross (VC) recipient Keith Payne.

Organised by the Northern Rivers Aeroclub, the event will display everything from vintage cars from the 1940s to 1970s and a Navy Seahawk, to ex-military WWII aircraft and simulated ground attacks.

Airshow co-ordinator Martin Davie said the event will be a family fun day with something for everyone, including a jumping castle and other entertainment for kids.

"The air adventure flights are sure to be a hit with the kids," Mr Davie said.

"For those who would rather keep closer to ground, there will be static aircraft displays."

Many  of the guests are legends in their own right, including Mr Payne, who will travel from Queensland.

"Australian aerobatic champions Matt Hall and Neville Bienke will perform their thrilling displays," Mr Davie said.

The Defence Force recruitment team will be there with an information stand for those interested in a career the services.

Aircraft will available for those that turn up early so jump at the chance to strap yourself into a DH82 Tiger Moth, a CAC Mustang or T6 Airtourer.

Warbirds Over Lismore will take place at the Northern Rivers Aeroclub, Three Chain Road in Lismore. Park off Three Chain Road on Habib Drive.

A free shuttle bus will drop patrons at the airshow entrance. Gates open at 9am with air shows starting at 1pm.

Entry for adults is $20, children $10 and a family (two adults and up to three children) is $50.
